NMPAT are providing the big finish to the Northampton Big Picnic and the plan is to have a massed choir and band – and you can take part! Brass, wind and percussion players (staff, students, adults) are required for the band, but we also need loads and loads of singers!
So if you want to be involved, see the attached poster and get in touch via the Jubilee pages on the new NMPAT website.

This is a combined, county-wide, Drama celebration happening in Northampton on 5th May.
A number of our groups will be taking part in the Rotary Festival which this year runs from 29th Feb to the 8th March at venues in and around Wellingborough.

Well its over. Its been a while since we had anything like the two Castle concerts yesterday – long enough for the staff to forget how busy it would be, hence they agreed to do it again, anyway!
Two amazing concerts – all groups were just fantastic and everyone was very well behaved. I know some of the smaller children, especially, had been at the Castle for quite a while by the end of the first concert and behaviour was very good.
Hope you all got a chance to hear the foyer music and visit the displays by the Art Attack groups before the concerts too.
We had a lot of help on the day, without which it just would not have been possible – manning the door (apologies for the melee afterwards, but the Castle are very strict re signing in/out), providing drinks, driving the van (early start and very late finish!), moving kit here there and everywhere, herding children, etc, etc. A very big thank you to everyone who volunteered to help us on the day.
Another big thank you to Emily, Nick, Danny and Mark who orchestrated setting up orchestras, manned the setting out of bands, ensured there was minimal drama clearing the stage for drama … and kept everyone entertained with announcements via the backstage PA system. We had an incredibly tight schedule and it was only by advanced planning, good organisation and lots of support (and maybe a healthy dose of luck) that we were able to complete everything being only a few minutes over time.
And of course, mega, mega thank you to Ruth and the staff. For some especially, their “3 hours work” extended to over 15 hours that day! Everyone pulled together and without them volunteering their time in this way, these opportunities would just not be possible. Especially after an already busy week of National Festival trips and county concerts.
It was a wonderful opportunity for all involved to perform on a “real stage”.
See you all in September!

A bit late to report now, but the Wellingborough Evening Telegraph published an article about our open day – see here: http://www.northantset.co.uk/lifestyle/making_music_at_centre_s_annual_open_event_1_2568270
There are more photos from the open day in their shop – search for “wellingborough music centre“.
